1. HOWDY PARTY

2. PRACTICE JOURNALS
3. POSTURE/POSITION TEST

4. FALL ORCHESTRA COUNCIL APPLICATIONS
5. SYMPHONY HONOR CONCERT
1. HOWDY PARTY:  the Howdy Party is TODAY from 5-7p in the AHS MAC!!!  Remember to bring your grade’s food item (12-dessert items; 11-drinks; 10-chips; 9-nothing, come enjoy).  Wear your grade’s shirt color, or an AHS shirt.  Bring lawn chairs, footballs, frisbees…anything you would want at a great picnic!  Parents are always welcome, as well.  See you there!
2. PRACTICE JOURNALS:  the first Practice Journal cycle runs through this Sunday.  All entries for this first cycle must be submitted by 11:59p Sunday.  Our system will reset to the next Practice Journal cycle at 12:00a Monday.  Next week is only two weeks before Fall Concert week, so please make sure you are doing good practice to help your group sound great!
3. POSTURE/POSITION TEST:  all students will be evaluated during class next week on their consistent use of the great posture and instrument positions on which we have been working in class.  This will be the first test grade of the year, and should be an easy one for everyone putting forth great COLTS effort!
4. FALL ORCHESTRA COUNCIL APPLICATIONS:  are you a great leader?  Apply for the AHS Orchestra Council, our student officer group!  We are selecting our 9th grade representatives, as well as representatives for classes currently without officers (periods 1 and 9).  Applications are due Monday, and are available in the Orchestra Hall and on Charms.
5. SYMPHONY HONOR CONCERT:  the Symphony Honor Concert scheduled for October 10 has been canceled.  This concert normally allows our Symphony Orchestra members an opportunity to gain experience playing on stages other than AHS.  However, since our Fall Concert is at UTA only one week prior, the students voted to take this off the schedule for this year.
We look forward to seeing lots of you at the Howdy Party today!  Please let us know if you have any questions, and thank you for your support of the AHS Orchestra!
