1.  SPRING TRIP PAYMENT 2 DUE THIS MONDAY – JANUARY 10

The second payment of $200 for the Spring Trip is due this Monday, January 10. Please bring cash or check made payable to “AHS Orchestra” or pay online by going to  http://ahsorchestra.com/forms-docs/ and clicking on “AHS Orchestra Trip Payments.” 

2. UIL SEASON & DATES

UIL Season is here! Please make sure you are bringing instruments home and practicing. Don’t forget to bring them back to school for class!

Please mark your calendars for these dates: 

UIL  Wed, February 23, Call time for your orchestra will be announced next weeK

Pre-UIL  Tuesday through Thursday, March 1 – 3, Precise dates and times TBD

3. AHS GRADUATION – SYMPHONY & PHILHARMONIC

Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras combine to perform for the AHS Graduation. This is a REQUIRED AND GRADED PERFORMANCE. Please mark your calendars:

Graduation Rehearsals: TBD, usually one of the last days of school and the day before Graduation. 

Graduation: Wed, Jun 8, 8:30 AM 

        Call Time: 7:00 AM at AHS then Bused over to graduation venue

        Return Time: 11:00 AM, approx.

We are so thankful for the generosity of our students and parents for all the wonderful donations for our Arley’s Angel. Your giving ensured a very merry Christmas for a very deserving little girl! Thank you again!

Concert Orchestra (2nd & 3rd period) have after-school rehearsal in preparation for the concert on Tuesday, December 7 from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm.

3. HOLIDAY CONCERT, WED, DEC 8, 7:00 PM

Call Time for all groups is 5:45 pm at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts.

Thanksgiving is almost here which means our Holiday Concert is right around the corner. We are excited to have this concert in the new AISD Center for the Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA). If you haven’t been to a concert or played there, it is quite the experience. This year will be a particular treat as the Full Symphony Orchestra (band and strings) will be joined by the 80-member AHS Concert Chorale to perform together for the first time in over ten years! This is a wonderful way to ring in the holiday season! 

4  ORCHESTRA ADOPTING A CHILD FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The orchestra program is adopting one of Arlie’s Angels through Mission Arlington this year. Please consider donating to this child in need. All donations need to be brought to the orchestra room by Wednesday, December 8. See below for information on the child and suggested gifts.
