AHS ORCHESTRA UPDATE – 9.20.2024

$11,534 raised with 5 DAYS LEFT. We are doing well, but we still need EVERYONE’s help to reach our goal of $19,000. Here’s how you can help: 

  • Please add your emails and phone numbers, then ADD MORE! 
  • SHARE, RESHARE, & RESHARE to all your social media platforms–you never know who will see it and want to help!

2. PROGRAM AD SALES – LAST CHANCE

We have a few mParents wishing to purchase a Shout-Out for their student or advertise their business in our concert program may do so by submitting the Ad Sales Program form found on our Orchestra Website.  All money and forms must be turned in no later than September 23.  Each advertisement purchased also includes a complimentary listing on our orchestra website and weekly update, and will be featured in PowerPoint format before each major concert.  Please contact Ms. Wilcox at kwilcox@aisd.net if you are interested in purchasing an ad space. 

3. BOOSTER CLUB PARENT SOCIAL & MEETING – TUES, SEP 24

Our first Booster Club Parent Social will be held on Tues, Sep 24 at 6:30 pm in the Orchestra Room with a meeting held at 7:00 pm. This is such an important organization for our orchestra program. When everyone pitches in things go so much faster! Come and get to know the other parents and help us make this a great year for our orchestra students. 

NOTE: if there is a baseball game, park on the black top or far enough from the field to avoid pop fly balls. 

4. HOMECOMING BREAKFAST & RED WAGON DONATIONS

Thursday afternoon – Cinnamon Roll Donations 

Friday AM – Toilet Paper donations

The Homecoming breakfast is this Friday from 6:45 – 7:35 am in the AHS Cafeteria. All school organizations bring something and Orchestra brings cinnamon rolls. Please bring cinnamon rolls on Thursday in preparation for Friday morning’s breakfast. Officers will be serving, but all students are encouraged to attend the breakfast. 

The Red Wagon parade at the Homecoming peprally is a long-standing AHS tradition. Organizations collect donations and place them in our red wagon. These donations are then given to Mission Arlington. Orchestra collects toilet paper. Please bring a pack of toilet paper by Friday morning for the pep rally. 

5. FALL CONCERT DATE – WED, OCT 16, 7:00 PM

Mark your calendars for our first concert of the year! The students are sounding great already and we are very excited to perform for you!

1. VERTICAL RAISE FUNDRAISER  DUE TOMORROW 

Our VERTICAL RAISE fundraiser will begin this week! We need EVERYONE’s help to reach our goal of $19,000. Each student must bring 20 emails of likely donors on Wed, Sep 4 for A-day classes and Thurs, Sep 5 for B-day classes. A representative will speak with students and help them enter their emails on these days. PLEASE HAVE EMAILS IN A NOTES APP ON THEIR PHONE. They can copy and paste rather than typing them in and having possible errors.

2. GET FIT DAY **REQUIRED** – SAT, SEP 7

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT DAY. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY and follow all directions in the checklist for a painless and speedy process. 

Get Fit Day is the day students will get fitted for their uniforms, pay their activity fee, turn in all necessary forms, verify contact info, etc. Forms were handed out in a packet at last week’s parent meeting. Included in the packet is the link/QR code to sign up for a 30-minute time slot on Saturday, a checklist to make your time at school as short as possible, and all forms signed on CutTime. 

If you lost your packet, you can send your student to get another one from a director or visit our website: ahsorchestra.com and download it from the “Forms and Docs” page. 

If bringing cash, please bring the exact amount. We do not have enough cash to make change for everyone. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Students need to be at the CVPA, dressed, and tuning by the CALL TIME listed below. 

Students not on stage for warm-up by the time specified below will lose 30% of their concert grade. Traffic is always an issue at this time of day as well as crossing the train tracks. Please plan accordingly.

3. FUNDRAISER COLONIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT – MARK YOUR CALENDARS

Our annual fundraiser of working concessions at the Charles Schwab PGA Golf Tournament at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth will take place from May 21-26. Please mark your calendar. We will send a sign-up form soon.
