Orchestra at Arlington High School started in 1975 with thirteen string students rehearsing in a classroom taught by Linda Keefer, who continued to build the Arlington High School Orchestra until her retirement in 2013. The program has grown to approximately 250 students in six performing orchestras. The flagship Arlington High School Symphony Orchestra, a collaboration with the Arlington High School Band, has earned Sweepstakes at UIL Concert & Sightreading for over 35 years.
Over 30 former AHS Orchestra students are now teaching orchestra, with countless others performing and working in music-related fields. The orchestra has represented Arlington High School around Texas and the United States, including Chicago and New York City.
