1. REMEMBER YOUR INSTRUMENTS & BINDERS:  welcome back, and we hope you had a fantastic break!  We will be playing the first day back, so remember to bring your instruments and binders.

2. EXTRA CREDIT PRACTICE JOURNAL:  a reminder that the extra credit practice journal that was available to complete over the break is due your first class day this week.

3. TRIP PAYMENT DUE:  the next trip payment is due Thursday, January 11.  Please see Charms to check your balance.

4. REGION HOSTING HELP NEEDED:  AHS is once again hosting the TMEA Region 5 Orchestra Clinic and Concert on Friday, January 19 and Saturday, January 20!  We will need lots of student help to host this event.  Details will come in class later this week, so start clearing your calendars if you want to help!

5. SYMPHONY REHEARSAL CHANGE:  effective immediately, we are adjusting the rehearsal schedule for Symphony Orchestra.  Rehearsals will now be from 4-6p on the first school day of the week.  Most weeks, this will be a Monday rehearsal.  Due to school holidays on two Mondays, rehearsals will be Tuesday on January 16 and February 20.  We will not have rehearsal at 7a until further notice.  We appreciate you making whatever arrangements are necessary to be at these required rehearsals.

3. FINAL EXAM

1. INSTRUMENTS HOME:  the Orchestra Hall is unlikely to have heat/air over the break.  To avoid damage to instruments, all student instruments should be taken home.  Students will need their binders on final exam day.

2. PRACTICE OVER BREAK:  students will receive new music on their final exam day, and our hope is that each student helps their group by starting to learn their parts over the break.  Students will have the opportunity to complete a practice journal over the break that will count as extra credit if turned in the first day back after the break.  Instructions will be given on the final exam day.

3. FINAL EXAM:  students will take their Orchestra final exam on the scheduled final exam day.  The exam will be an evaluation of our Winter Concert, and requires no studying.  Students will need their binders on final exam day.

1. PRACTICE JOURNALS:  a reminder that completed practice journals are due the first class day of next week.

2. PASSOFF DEADLINE:  the deadline to complete 3rd six weeks passoffs has been extended to Friday, December 15, at 2:50p.  Directors will be listening in class tomorrow (Friday) and next week.  Students are also welcome to come in during practice club (Mondays and Thursdays from 4-6p), or to get a plus pass.

3. CLASS GIFT EXCHANGE:  our class gift exchanges will take place on the last full class day (Friday 12/15 for B day classes; Monday 12/18 for A day classes).  Students who wish to participate should spend no more than $10 on a gift that will work for anyone.  Bring it wrapped and join in the fun!  Students may also bring food to enjoy and share the same day.

4. SENIOR HOLIDAY PARTY:  our annual senior holiday party is Friday, 12/15, from 5-7 pm in the AHS Orchestra Hall.  Bring a gift to exchange (max $10), and a food item to share.  We’ll have fun and games, food, hot chocolate, and our senior tree ornament decorating!!!
