AHS Orchestra update – 01.13.17

1. TRIP PAYMENT DUE: a reminder that our next Branson trip payment is due this Friday, January 6. Your balance following this payment should be no more than $300. You can check Charms for your current balance due. Please contact Mr. Goins to discuss any extensions or other financial considerations.

2. PRACTICE: are you practicing daily? Remember that great effort in class is only part of your group being the best possible! Daily practice from EVERY member of the ensemble is the key to success for everyone in the ensemble. PLEASE DO YOUR PART!!! Parents, we appreciate any encouragement you can give at home to help with good practice habits.

3. PASSOFFS: students are receiving their passoffs for the 4th six weeks at the beginning of this week. We encourage all students to be prepared so you can demonstrate mastery on your first try! Passoff attempts will begin next week.

4. SYMPHONY REMINDERS: 7am rehearsals begin TOMORROW!!! Any seniors interested in auditioning to perform a senior solo in the spring, remember that approval forms are due this Friday, January 6.

5. ORCHESTRA PICTURES: do you have pictures or videos from Fall 2016 orchestra events?!? We want them!!! Embarrassing? Even better! Send your pictures and videos to the AHS Historians at ahshistorians@gmail.com

1. SECRET SANTA: want to participate in our Secret Santa gift exchange on final exam day??? Then remember to get your STUDENT EMAIL updated in Charms!!! This needs to be done by 10:00 pm on Sunday, December 11. Spread the word!

2. PASSOFFS: a reminder that all passoffs for the third six weeks must be completed by Wednesday, December 14, at 2:50 pm. Students will have an opportunity for passoff attempts in class this week.

3. BARRAGE HOLIDAY CD: looking for some new music to put you in the holiday spirit? Want to help support the AHS Orchestra??? We can help with both!!! Barrage 8 has a holiday album, Winter’s Tale, available for the bargain price of $10. For every copy sold, the AHS Orchestra will earn $5! AHS Orchestra update – 12.05.16

1. WINTER CONCERT: our Winter Concerts are this week! Students are required to attend their group’s concert. Students have been given their group’s call time in class. Formal performance uniform. All concerts are in the AHS Auditorium. Students may earn extra credit by attending a night of concerts on which they are not performing, and must get their ID scanned at entry and exit to earn credit.

Philharmonic, Sinfonia, Philharmonia, and Concert Orchestras perform Tuesday, December 6 at 7:00 pm. United Sound and Symphony Orchestra perform Wednesday, December 7 at 7:00 pm.

Junior High Winter Concerts are Thursday, December 8. Gunn JH performs at 6:30 pm, and Bailey JH performs around 7:30 pm.

2. TRIP PAYMENT: the December trip payment is due by the end of this week.

3. SENIOR HOLIDAY PARTY: our Senior Holiday Party is this Friday, December 9, from 5-7 pm in the AHS Orchestra Hall!!! Food, fun, and fellowship! Students will receive details in class about what to bring. We hope to see all of the orchestra seniors there!
