AHS Orchestra update – 03.02.18

1. UIL CONGRATULATIONS:  congratulations to all of our groups who participated in the UIL Region 5 Concert & Sightreading Evaluation this week!!!  All groups gave their best performances of this music, demonstrating great progress.  Philharmonia and Sinfonia Orchestras each earned a rating of Excellent for both their stage and sightreading performances.  Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras each earned a rating of Superior, the highest rating possible, for their stage and sightreading performances.  This was the 40th consecutive year of Sweepstakes for the AHS Symphony.  Bravo to all of the students for representing AHS so well!!!
2. SYMPHONY @ OPEN HOUSE:  a reminder that members of Symphony Orchestra will be performing at Open House on Monday, March 5.  Call time is 7p.  Casual performance uniform (see the handbook).  Symphony members will be done by 8p at the latest.
3. INSTRUMENTS NEXT WEEK:  all orchestra students will need their instruments Thursday/Friday next week, and B day classes will need their binders Wednesday.  No classes will need instruments Monday/Tuesday.  SYMPHONY, remember to have your instrument for Open House Monday!

AHS Orchestra update – 02.19.18

1. BOOSTER MEETING CANCELED:  the booster club meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday at 7p has been canceled due to there being no new business.  We appreciate your time, and want to respect it!
2. SYMPHONY REHEARSAL TUESDAY:  a reminder that Symphony has rehearsal Tuesday, 4-6p.  Please be warming up by 3:50p!
3. MID-WINTER FESTIVAL WEDNESDAY:  our Mid-Winter Festival performances are Wednesday for all groups except Chamber!  Each group has a different call time, and students should check the information handed out in class (also available on Charms) for their group’s specific time.  Formal performance uniform.
4. UIL NEXT WEEK:  UIL for those groups participating is next week!  Please check the information handed out in class (also available on Charms) for specific days, times, and instructions.

AHS Orchestra update – 02.09.18

2. MID-WINTER FESTIVAL & UIL INFORMATION
3. SYMPHONY AT SPRING OPEN HOUSE
1. PASSOFF DEADLINE EXTENDED:  the deadline to complete passoffs for the 4th six weeks has been extended the first class day next week (Monday for B day classes, Tuesday for A day classes).  Students will have an opportunity to play in class that day, and are encouraged to use Plus Period and Monday afternoon’s practice club.  Grades have been entered, with passoffs still needing to be completed entered as a zero until completed.
2. MID-WINTER FESTIVAL & UIL INFORMATION:  students were given information about regarding our Mid-Winter Festival (Pre-UIL) and UIL this week in class (also posted on Charms).  Please see the information for specific times for all groups.
3. SYMPHONY AT SPRING OPEN HOUSE:  Symphony has been asked to present a brief performance at the Spring Open House on Monday, March 5.  Wind Symphony, Show Choir, and Symphony Orchestra will all be involved.  We will wear our casual performance uniforms.  Call time for strings will be 7p for a 7:15p performance, and students will be done no later than 8p.
