AHS Orchestra Update – 10/07

We have a very exciting and busy 4 day week!

10/7 – Symphony Rehearsal 4-6 PM

10/8 – Concert 2 &3 Rehearsal 3:15-4:15 PM

10/9 – United Sound 3:15-3:55 PM
Trip Scholarship forms due by 3:30 PM
Fall Concert 7 PM

10/10 – Jr. High Fall Concerts 6:30 PM

AHS Orchestra update – 05.20.19

  1. COLONIAL:  Colonial is THIS WEEK!!!  Thank you to everyone who signed up to help, and we look forward to seeing you there!  Of course, if you missed out on signing up, we can always use more adults.  Let us know, and we can get you signed up.  All volunteers MUST wear the green AHS Orchestra shirt with the silhouette of four instruments on the front in white.  Additionally, every volunteer must have a pass for each day to be worked.  We have these items, as well as parking passes if needed, to hand out this week.  We will be giving these to students in class for adults associated with them, or email us to arrange a time to pick up.  Thank you to everyone for helping make Colonial a success!!!

  1. SERVICE HOURS:  the deadline to submit service hours for the 2018-2019 school year is Monday, May 27.  This applies to any students interested in lettering, and for students interested in earning a senior honor cord.  Please see the orchestra handbook for complete details.

  1. UNIFORMS & SCHOOL INSTRUMENTS:  uniforms are now past due.  Please bring in any uniforms ASAP.  You do not need to dry clean the uniforms before returning them.  We will dry clean all uniforms over the summer.  School instruments also need to be returned this week if they have not already been checked in.

  1. GRADUATION:  students in Symphony and Philharmonic received complete details about graduation rehearsals, call times, etc, in class last week.  We know it is extra time for the students involved to be a part of this special moment in the life of a high school, and we appreciate the students for helping to make this a wonderful celebration for our AHS Class of 2019!

AHS Orchestra update – 05.06.19

  1. SPRING BANQUET:  the Spring Banquet is THIS FRIDAY, May 3, at AHS!!!  We are so excited to celebrate the year with great fellowship, awards, and fun!  Doors open at 5:30p, dinner will be served at 6p, and festivities will end at 10p.  WE NEED HELP SETTING UP!!!  If you can help, please meet in the AHS Cafeteria Friday at 3p.  Students and parents are both welcome to help!

  1. UNIFORMS & SCHOOL INSTRUMENTS DUE:  uniforms and school instruments MUST be returned NO LATER THAN Friday, May 17.  Uniforms do not need to be dry-cleaned, only returned complete and undamaged.  Please DO NOT simply leave an instrument or uniform in the Orchestra Hall and consider it checked in.  You MUST check uniforms and instruments in directly to a director, who will then give you instructions.

  1. FINAL PLAYING ASSESSMENT:  a reminder that final playing assessments will take place in class starting next week.  These performances will also serve as placement evaluations for students who will be in orchestra next year.

  1. COLONIAL:  we still need more volunteers for Colonial!!!  PLEASE help us recruit people to help us make this event a success!  Watch for an email in the next few days specifically about Colonial, and let us know if you have any questions!

  1. GRADUATION:  a reminder that graduation is on Saturday, June 8, and is REQUIRED of members of Symphony and Philharmonic.  We are currently coordinating details about music and rehearsals with the band, and will get that information to students as soon as possible.  Please keep in mind that a rehearsal during the week between the last day of school and graduation is VERY likely.
